Screenprinting:

Introduction to screen printing using drawing fluid and screen filler to print your desired design, suitable for beginners. This method can create a semi-permanent design on a screen, allowing you to print multiples of your design without stencils. This technique is more accessible than using photographic emulsion and so could be repeated at home with minimal equipment if desired. There will be some images available to use for ideas or you are welcome to bring your own design on paper to trace from, we will be focussing on a one colour print, if there is time a second colour might be possible.

Your Tutor: Katie Edwards

Katie’s screenprint illustrations reflect her appreciation for natural beauty and love for outdoor sports, mixed with
familiar cityscapes, creating a beautiful juxtaposition. On a deeper level, zebras crossing the road or a cat’s reflection taking shape as a lion are just a few examples of humorous and symbolic threads throughout Katie’s work.
With 20 years experience in screenprinting, creating a hand crafted, textured aesthetic is important to Katie. The unpredictable yet organic experience creates the individuality of each print. Katie’s illustrations feature in a number of editorials, advertising campaigns and exhibitions world wide including The Observer, The Times, Psychology Magazine, British Heart Foundation, Silverstone Classic Cars, Roomzzz Apartment Hotel.
