A fascinating programme framed by two Liszt Legends and works from his late spiritual period. The relationship between Robert and Clara is interwoven in to the central nucleus of the programme: Robert’s two very final works, and Clara’s Variations, one of the final piano pieces she wrote as a poignant gift for Robert on the last birthday they would spend together as a family.
