Here today, Coro tomorrow

We get asked a lot when we'll be reopening The Coro and it's been a really difficult question to answer. With ongoing changes to government restrictions and guidelines we've had to tread very carefully when planning for the future. But we are now really pleased to be able to share with you when and how we are planning to welcome you back to The Coro, with our own road map of sorts.

Building on the success of last summer's colourful trails and events that were designed to breathe life back into the town after months of lockdown, this year we are planning another series of installations and small-scale performances celebrating 'Our Earth'.

Throughout the month of August you will be invited to 'look around' once again at beautiful pieces placed in and around Ulverston for you to enjoy in your own space and time. Some might be familiar and others new, but you'll have to wait and see.

The centrepiece of our summer programme will be the spectacular 'Gaia', an exact replica of our own Earth, suspended for you to gaze at in the main hall of The Coro. It's free but you must book your slots in advance, you can do that here.

From September we'll be reintroducing performance events to The Coro. Get ready for theatre, music and comedy as at last we turn down the lights, pull back the curtains and welcome you to join us doing what we've all missed so much. We'll be bringing an amazing programme of events with something for everyone, details of each will be publicised as they're ready to go on sale.

Because we don't know when restrictions will be lifted entirely and we want to make sure that even if things change we can go ahead with these events, we're planning everything to be COVID-secure. This means that whatever the guidelines at the time, as long as we're allowed to open and hold live performance, we can and we will. But this doesn't mean tape and arrows everywhere, it just means that we're continuing to plan very special, very safe experiences for you to enjoy at ease.

Yes, we're thinking about the festive season already and we'll be preparing a beautiful immersive experience for all the family to enjoy in December and get us all in the mood for what we hope will be a Christmas spent together.

Hiring the hall in this time

The three spaces in the building (Ante Room, Supper Room and Main Hall) will be available to hire from September, on mid-week day times only, for now. You'll be able to book meetings, conferences, get togethers and other private events for your organisation or community group by emailing

Unfortunately we're not able to take any bookings for public facing events or activities just yet. We are building up to a full offer gradually and you'll be able to host your event at The Coro once again from January 2022.

January 2022

We are planning for 2022 to be the year we can open in full. Of course no-one can know, still, but we are working towards January being the time that we can open with a full programme of events and activities and we'll welcome you to hold your own too. The 2022 calendar is open for bookings yet, but it will be soon and the moment it is, we'll make sure details of how to book are on these pages.

The Coro in full swing is a place full of life and laughter. We're confident you'll have a great time at everything we've got planned for the rest of this year and we look forward to that time when we can fill the house, with you, once again.

Thank you... much! For continuing to support us through what has been such a tough time for everyone. You've been here for us and we'll be here for you.

Here today, Coro tomorrow. See you soon.
