Ulverston International Music Festival presents

Wednesday 8 June 7.30pm

Anthony Hewitt is joined by guest pianist Emanuil Ivanov for UIMF Festival’s ever-popular two-piano concert, performing Poulenc’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Rachmaninov’s Suite No. 1.

Formerly dubbed ‘Piano Duel’ for the face-to-face positions the instruments and pianists take up on stage, the presentation is akin to a stand off, conjuring-up the practice of competitive duels - gladiatorial events that were common in the heyday of the romantic era. Modern-day etiquette requires a little more sense of the collegiate, however as Anthony Hewitt will be joined by his exceptionally talented student Emanuil Ivanov, it will set-up an intriguing ‘face-off’ between mentor and protégé. Will wisdom and refinement win over exuberant youth?! Come along and find out!
