Performances in the Park
In partnership with Ford Park, we're bringing a series of magical outdoor performances to Ulverston on weekends throughout August.
A limited number of tickets will be available for each of these day time performances and audiences will enjoy the performance from socially distanced 'pods' across the main field in the park.
Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August
Bicycle Boy is a hilarious, high energy, bicycle powered, musical show, for all the family, where you the audience keep the show going by the power of pedal! Even better, you don't need your own bike, everything is provided.
Sam has 24 hours to clear out his grandad’s old bike workshop. He remembers Grandad teaching him to ride (and pretending to be his favourite superhero, Bicycle Boy). It seems Grandad may have left Sam a present somewhere in the workshop, and some clues to find it. But there’s no power and Sam needs electricity to unlock the clues. Can you help him? If we can connect up enough bikes and pedal like mad, maybe we can generate enough power for Sam’s journey (and the show). Join us for a musical adventure and be prepared to help pedal power the performance!
The show is really one not to be missed, lasts approximately one hour (including time to have a go on the bicycles after the show has finished, with sanitisation included of course). The entire show has been adapted to meet current government guidance and is Covid Safe.
Reynard the Fox
Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August
The tale of Reynard the Fox follows the woodlands most infamous scoundrel who prides himself on being the trickster of the forest. But when the Woodland Court announces the theft of the King’s Crown Jewels the animal kingdom immediately blame the fox.
Reynard must do everything he can to prove his innocence and avoid certain death, as well as maintaining his devious persona. Will the gift of his silver tongue be a shade too bright against his roguish red fur to save his own tail?
Reynard the Fox, is a new piece of engaging outdoor theatre for family audiences of all ages, using The Fabularium’s unique aesthetic, strong imagery and all performed upon their traditional wooden cart. It will feature storytelling, puppetry, original live music and The Fabularium’s bespoke animal headpieces
Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August
Cloudscapes is a duologue for performer and clouds in an outdoor auditorium; a cloud-gazing area. Whilst the performer tells stories of her relationship with the troposphere, audiences are encouraged to look up and contemplate the mutability of clouds, as well as the mutability of humanity.
Even the most seemingly featureless skies provide plentiful material.
Cloudscapes is a very personal, human-scale work about clouds, with a focus on the role of clouds in climate change. It premiered at the Inside Out Dorset Festival in September 2016 on the dramatic coastal site of Hengistbury Head.
