Following booking a place at the table, we will contact you about any food allergies or issues. The food served relates to the stories gathered, but we always ensure some of it is vegetarian food and some suitable for vegans.

By booking you agree to our Conditions of Sale and Entry including our refund policy.

Join us for an extraordinary ‘performance meal’ in which you will sit together at the table with our performers, who will re-tell stories, anecdotes and memories gathered from the people of Ulverston, as well as some of our own: stories about food – food growing, making and eating – and stories about life.

These stories are often funny, sometimes sad or thought-provoking, and always engaging; as one audience member described it: ‘A wonderful weaving together of memories, about food, but really about the people who shared tasters of their lives’. Whilst we tell you these stories, food from recipes collected as we talked to people is cooked in the space and served to you at the table, immersing you in the sights, sounds and smells of the stories.

In the performance, a temporary community is built around the table and audiences are welcomed not only to share the food, but to share their own stories with each other as well. A review of Slow Cooked Stories when we created a version for Nottingham commented that: ‘It’s not often at a theatre show that you periodically catch the eyes of fellow guests… and especially in the many moments of humour which punctuated the performance, it evoked a feeling of closeness and confidentiality. A conviviality created by stories. A momentary community forged by food.’

Unfortunately Slow Cooked Stories has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. All bookers were contacted in the week commencing 23 October and full refunds were processed.
