Doing things a bit differently

COVID-19 Announcement - February 24 2021

We are very pleased that the government has set out clear stages for coming out of lockdown and we are, like everyone, hopeful and excited about the possibility of being able to live our lives and operate our businesses without restrictions in the future. We are very aware that all dates given are ‘at the earliest’ and we will continue to pay close attention to the situation as it plays out in the coming weeks and months.

We know people will be keen to hear when we plan to bring back live events or when you can hire the hall again. For now, we can’t answer these questions specifically but we are working on a phased plan which we will share with everyone once ready.

While we are so looking forward to being able to open our doors to you, we have much to do in order to build up to a fully functioning venue again due to the impact the pandemic has had, so even once we are allowed to open, it will take some time before we have a full programme of events and activities.

We hope to have your support and understanding that although we can at last glimpse the light at the end of the tunnel, we still have quite the journey ahead of us. Surviving through closure has been a monumental task but re-opening successfully, is arguably an even bigger one. We remain super positive about the future so please hang on in there, continue to stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

The Coro

COVID-19 Announcement - July 2020

As result of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis the Coronation Hall will remain closed to public performance and hire for the remainder of 2020. The health and wellbeing of our audiences, friends and partners as well as staff and volunteers remains of the utmost importance to us and while COVID-19 is still a public health risk, we feel that we cannot in good conscience encourage large numbers of people to spend time together inside for long periods of time.  We have investigated all options for running a socially distanced programme but the financial implications of running a building and programme on less than half capacity are simply too great.

This pandemic has had a devastating impact on the theatre and venue industry but we are hopeful that by making this incredibly difficult decision now, we stand the best chance of making sure our much-loved Coro Hall is here for the whole community in years to come.

If you are a ticket holder for any of the events that were scheduled to take place in 2020 that have been cancelled due to COVID-19, you should, by now, have received a full refund.  If you have not, please do get in touch.

If you are an organisation or individual who had an existing booking for hire of the Hall, you should have heard from us directly by now but if for any reason you have not, please do get in touch.

Finally, we believe that arts, culture and entertainment are fundamentally important to us as human beings, now more than ever and we continue to explore opportunities for special experiences for and with the community while we remain closed to public performance and hire. News and details of any projects will be published on this site, so do keep an eye out.

For now, take care and continue to stay safe.

COVID-19 Announcement - February 2021

The Coro remains closed due to the national lockdown that has been in place since early January 2021.  We are monitoring the situation and awaiting the government's road map which we hope will indicate when and how we may be able to recommence activity.

When this becomes possible, we will continue to maintain public health as our top priority and any activity will be in line with government guidelines at the time.  We aim to continue to provide experiences that are special, but safe and we will be reintroducing activity carefully.

In the meantime and as we glimpse light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccine programme in place, we are working on a new business plan that aims to move us beyond the current crisis and onto a time when we can deliver against our social and cultural objectives more fully and in a financially sustainable way, so we can be sure to be here in the long term.  We have consulted with many hundreds of you about what you want for the future of The Coro and your contribution plays a big part in our planning. We mean it when we say; it is your Coro.

As ever over this last year, we remain flexible and poised ready to adapt should circumstances change, but we are committed to not only surviving this unforeseen journey but thriving in the future.

For now, if you'd like to get in touch you can do so through our social media channels or email  Please be aware that our, now very small, team are on and off furlough depending on the situation but we will come back to you as soon as possible.

Finally we'd like to take a moment to pause and remember the far too many casualties of COVID-19.  Our hearts go out to all those who have lost loved ones.

Take care and continue to stay safe
